"I had asthma," he says, ticking the conditions off on each finger as he talks. "Low blood pressure. Hypoglycemia - didn't even know what that meant back then. Not as a kid, anyhow. I had scarlet fever, rheumatic fever, sinusitis, heart problems, chronic ear infections. Got the flu pretty much every time it came around, colds every time the weather changed."

Steve shrugs, his grin bright and ironic. "And I was kind of a runt."
